The suitability of the direct energy deposition process exothermic powders Fe-Ti in joining dissimilar metals to produce small parts a complete shape for various applications is considered. procedure commercial pure iron and titanium proportions modes are described. Optical microscopy SEM with EDX analysis, X-ray microhardness measurements laser-fabricated intermetallics applied. Intermetallic compounds FeTi, Fe2Ti, eutectoids, complex oxides nitrides, carbides found. Interlayer trans-layer cracks pores observed. A growth from 150 HV 900 was obtained all samples due precipitation brittle intermetallic phases gradient system during DED. dispersion values becomes significant Ti-rich areas; there, revealed structure features considered relation published results explained. Increased concentrations Ti + Fe = 3:1 on Fe- -substrate 1:1 1:3 lead increasing hardness its distribution, but also increases residual microstress. Recommendations given reduce power layers apply Fe-substrate, which can stress, pores, cracks.
